PleaseATSG technical manuals are in-depth, detailed and have assisted many technical professionals across the globe saving them tremendous amounts of time and money. If you are looking to complete a band adjustment, torque specs, service a transmission, shift kits, or just doing a full rebuild on a unit, ATSG technical manuals are a must-have. The manuals cover many areas of transmission rebuild, including: parts identification exploded views wiring harness locations hydraulic routing electrical diagrams internal planetary components how to disassemble a transmission how to rebuild the individual components torque specs valve body identification extension housing overviews how to assemble a transmission, and much, much more Our customers are routinely impressed with ATSG manuals and often recommend them to friends. Here are a few recently received customer reviews: Really good book on transmission specifications and assembly” Nice manual, quality product” Just as promised. Great book!” Everything I needed and then some. Very accurate” What is the difference between the blue cover book and the green cover book? The blue cover book is the standard transmission rebuild manual. This book will be your go-to guide for understanding and performing the process of transmission rebuilding. If you are planning to rebuild your transmission and do not already have this manual, this is the one you will want and need. The green cover book the update manual. This manual is intended for diagnostic work and/or troubleshooting codes. While a few transmission updates are included in this manual, it relies primarily upon, and often refers back to, the original blue cover manual for rebuilding instructions. Many DIY-er’s will not need this manual as it is most frequently used by professional shops. What about these CD-ROM discs? Some of the ATSG manuals are no longer available in paperback form. Some obsolete books and/or less popular books have moved from book format to a mini-disc CD-ROM. These discs are easy to use and will fit in the small, inner disc circle of any computer disc drive. Our ATSG service manuals now qualify for free U.S. shipping! As always, should you have any questions about ATSG transmission products or need assistance in identifying your transmission, please feel free to contact Oregon Performance Transmission at salesdesk@optsales.com . South Sister, Central Oregon Photo credit: Oregon Performance Transmission Repeated exposure to heat is the number one reason automatic transmissions fail. One way to extend the life of your transmission and avoid, or at least prolong a costly rebuild is to install a quality transmission cooler. One of our consistent best-selling items is the Tru-Cool 47391 transmission cooler from Long Manufacturing – Dana Corporation. The 47391 cooler is rated at 40,000 GVW (gross vehicle weight) and measures 8.5″ x 22.75″ x 1.25″. This is a low pressure drop (LPD) unit with 3/8″ inverted flare fittings. This is truly the ultimate cooler for heavy towing and is a must for heavy duty applications, including racing. All parts and instructions are included to mount and plumb this cooler. Retail price is $200+. This cooler comes with a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. Tru-Cool 47391 40,000 GVW Transmission Cooler (part number LNG-47391 ) Installation and compatibility information: This cooler comes with all mounting hardware and fittings as well as approximately 30” of transmission hose. The cooler has 3/8” inlet and outlet fittings on the ends so you would typically use this with applications where you have 3/8” line. The 47391 is 2 feet wide; it is a physically large cooler and it will need a lot of space. In terms of compatibility, it is not so much the transmission you need to be concerned about, it is whether or not you have the physical space to accommodate the cooler. Typically these are meant for trucks and SUV’s for towing and off-road use. Our Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Jeep customers rave about them. If you do not have 3/8” line, (for example the Chevy Duramax with the Alison transmission), you would either need to buy different fittings to adapt, or go with another cooler meant for ½” line. Tru-Cool’s H7B cooler is meant for ½” line and is a high end cooler that can actually be used as an engine oil cooler as well. It does not come with mounting hardware, fittings or hose, so you would need to buy those items separately. Tru-Cool H7B 29,200 BTU Transmission Cooler (part number LNG-H7B ) If you live in an area that routinely experiences temperatures at or below 32F, you should consider using the Tru-Cool 40,000 GVW cooler that comes with the external thermal bypass. As with the LNG-47391, this cooler has 3/8″ inverted flare fittings on the ends, measures 8.5″ x 22.75″ x 1.25″ and comes with mounting hardware, fittings and transmission hose. It also includes the external thermal bypass valve that allows the transmission fluid to bypass the cooler until the transmission comes up to operating temperatures (approx. 180F +/-). Tru-Cool 40,000 GVW Transmission cooler with External Thermal Bypass (part number LNG-4739 ) In addition to the products outlined above, we have an extensive selection of Tru-Cool transmission coolers available here at Oregon Performance Transmission. We offer many additional sizes of coolers as well as units made for smaller vehicles. As always, if you have any questions or need assistance finding the right cooler for you, please do not hesitate to contact us at salesdesk@optsales.com or visit us on the web at www.oregonperformancetransmission.com . Right away you will notice faster and firmer 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. The corvette servo will give your transmission 50% more apply pressure, which is just what you need to keep from burning your transmission up under heavy load situations. The corvette servo is a must for any performance vehicle, for towing, RV, or off road use, and is a positive upgrade for any 700R4 or 4L60E transmission. Our servo is easy to install and can be done with the transmission in the vehicle. The servo comes with all of the necessary seals for installation; including the outer cover o-ring, as well as three pages of instructions with diagrams. If you have already decided to install a corvette servo, your next question might be whether or not you should use the corvette servo with the longer pin instead. Here’s how to decide. Corvette Servo with Longer Pin (part number OPT-CV-Pin ) After a short amount of time, by 30,000 miles or so, the band has been broken in and the servo travel has increased a lot. Too much servo travel can cause a delay in shifting, a longer 1-2 and 3-4 shift, as well as a slide-and-bump-into-gear type shift. By 100,000 or more miles, the band is wearing out and then you are at the point where the servo almost cannot travel far enough. Once it is beyond the travel of the servo, it...
